Corporate Social Responsibility
NMC is a supporter of Jecheon City Scholarship Foundation since 2008.
NMC proactively creates employment in local villages.
Workers from former mining operations are re-hired by NMC.
Although abundant underground water source is available at the mine site, NMC recycles 100% of used water at its water treatment/recycling facility.
NMC purchased the land around the mine to ensure that the land is used in a way that serves the best interests of the local farmers.
Tailings in mining carry substantial environmental liability and cost.
NMC, however, is linked to a cement plant nearby where the tailings are trucked to be used in cement production.
Airborne Dust/Noise Reduction
NMC Mine is the first fine in South Korean mining history to build its crushing chamber underground inside the adit in order to protect the community from airborne dust and noise.
